Our customs-related practice includes legal counsel on tariff classification and tariff confirmation by customs authorities, customs valuations, rules of origin, and tariff and non-tariff barriers, including labeling requirements, compliance with official standards, quotas, export promotion programs (such as the Manufacturing, Assembly, and Export Service Industry ̶ IMMEX for its initials in Spanish ̶ , the Promotion Programs Sector, and Rule Eight), timely import licenses and notices, importer registers (general and sectoral).

Our firm offers legal advice on matters pertaining to place of origin, working hand in glove with clients to provide them with preventive counsel on the benefits of the Free Trade Agreements signed by Mexico, in addition to compliance with current specific place-of-origin regulations so as to enjoy preferential treatment under said agreements.

Aguilar & Loera plays an active role in place-of-origin verifications required by the Mexican Ministry of Finance and has become an industry leader in this area. Due to our active involvement in this area, Aguilar & Loera maintains a professional working relationship with officials at the Ministries of Economy and Finance and, in some cases, our consultants and economists have worked closely with these Ministries for several years.
